Format of the Competition

IUM Mathematics Competition comprises of two stages:

i) Preliminary Stage: Objective questions
– All participants will solve 20 multiple choice questions.
– Each school will assist to organize the preliminary stage by their own.
– Question and answer sheet would be sent to the school. Once the examination is over, the answer sheets shall be return to us.

ii) Second Stage: Final round
– The programme would span a period of one day only, of which accommodations would be afforded to the participants not from Kuantan town – a total stay of  one (1) night.

Scope

The scope of the questions covers:

– Number Theory,

– Algebra,

– Product of irreducible polynomials,

– Combinatorics,

– Geometry.

and not include:

– Calculus

– Complex numbers

Old Format of the Competition

IIUM Mathematics Competition comprises of two stages:
i) First Stage: Subjective questions
– All participants will solve 5 long subjective questions.
ii) Second Stage: Final round
– All participants will solve the multiple choice questions type and the second round will determine the number of winners.
The programme would span a period of two days, of which accommodations would be afforded to the participants (a total stay of two nights). It is proposed that each school would be allocated two rooms for two nights.
