RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • This competition is an individual competition. No collaboration and discussion with another person is allowed. You will be disqualified if there is any evidence of collaboration or assistance
  • The student must be a Malaysian citizen from secondary school in Pahang, Johor, Terengganu, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan only.
  • The use of calculators is permitted exclusively during the online competition. During the physical/on-site final round examination, candidates are strictly prohibited from using calculators, geometry sets, or any reference materials.
  • For online competition, participants must have access to a stable online network and a suitable device, such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet, to ensure smooth participation.
  • Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) Compliance: Participants acknowledge that any proprietary, unpublished, or sensitive information shared during the competition is subject to confidentiality agreements. They must not disclose, reproduce, or use such information outside the scope of the competition.
  • AI Usage Restriction: Participants are strictly prohibited from using artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including but not limited to automated content generation, AI- assisted problem-solving, and machine learning algorithms, to gain an advantage in this competition. Any submission found to have been generated or significantly assisted by AI will be disqualified. The organizers reserve the right to request proof of originality and may conduct audits to ensure compliance.
  • Any violation of the above regulations may result in disqualification at the discretion of the organizing committee.
  • The Examination Committee reserves the right to modify, update or change the examination rules and regulations upon the suitability or nature of the programme.

GENERAL FORMAT OF COMPETITION

ONLINE COMPETITION

AL-KHAWARIZMI PRELIMINARY, FINAL ROUND

IBN AL-HAYTHAM PRELIMINARY, SEMI-FINAL ROUND

 

    • Question Type: multiple choice questions.
    • The link to online platform will be sent to the individual and School Coordinator 3 days before the exam.
    • Participants must be ready 30 minutes before the competition started.
    • Participants must answer directly in the online platform within the stipulated date and time, with no extra time allowed.
    • Only writing tools, calculators and online devices for the competition platform are permitted—AI tools like ChatGPT, Co-pilot etc are strictly prohibited. 
    • The examination questions shall be provided in both Malay and English.

 

FACE-TO-FACE COMPETITION

IBN AL-HAYTHAM FINAL ROUND

    • Question Type: multiple choice questions and subjective questions.
    • The participant will take the examination at Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM Kuantan Campus.
    • Only writing tools are allowed—no electronic devices like laptops, smartphones etc.
    • The examination questions shall be provided in both Malay and English.

THE COMPETITION

There are 2 CATEGORIES for this competition:

1️⃣ AL-KHAWARIZMI CATEGORY
(open to form 1 – 3 students)

Limited to 20 students per school.

Preliminary and Final Round.

Preliminary and Final round will be conducted fully online.

Scopes: Set theory, algebra, polynomial, number theory, geometry, combinatorics (not limited to school/textbook syllabus).

 

2️⃣ IBN AL-HAYTHAM CATEGORY
(open to form 4 & 5 students)

Limited to 30 students per school.

Preliminary, Semi-Final and Final Round.

Preliminary and Semi-Final Round will be conducted fully online.

Final stage will be conducted physically (face to face) at Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM Kuantan Campus.

Scopes: Number Theory, Algebra, Product of Irreducible Polynomials, Combinatorics, Geometry (not limited to school/textbook syllabus).

Ibn Al-Haytham Category

  • Preliminary Round (School level)

  • Semi-final Round (State level)
  • Final Round (National level)
